Hemerocallis 'Pandora's Box' Daylily
Click on my picture to purchase me for your garden Categories: As their name suggests, each flower lasts only one day, but it is quickly replaced by dozens more, for a very lush showing over many weeks in summer. | DescriptionThe flowers are slightly fragrant, sunfast, and absolutely beautiful, with a bold contrast between ivory-white and a small but intense maroon eyezone. Measuring 4 inches wide, these blooms are slightly ruffled and crimped, adding depth to their texture. They complement every other color in the garden, and their dark eyezone adds a note of formality that is really intriguing. They arise on plants 18 to 24 inches high and up to 3 feet wide, and are ideal for mass planting, border designs, and even containers. 'Pandora's Box' is an evergreen diploid, hardy from one end of the country to the other and very easy to grow. Like 'Pandora's Box,' many Daylilies rebloom. They need well-drained soil and as much sun as they can get, but other than that, they are wonderfully self-maintaining once established in your garden. Every few years you can go in and divide the plants with a simple whack of the shovel down the center of their crown. Impervious to heat, humidity, cold, poor soil, and even drought, this is one very, very tough plant. Zones 3-9. |
