Jacob's Ladder Heaven Scent Polemonium reptans
Click on my picture to purchase me for your garden Categories: Patent Applied For | DescriptionA very vigorous variety that can take more sun than many others, Heaven Scent belongs front and center in the partly shaded garden. These flowers are large, true blue, and very abundant, appearing in loose clusters above the neat ladder-like foliage that gives Polemonium its common name. As lovely and fragrant as they are, the flowers are only one of this plant's merits. Another is early spring foliage that sports bright blue and purple tones, emerging sooner than many perennials in the shade and offering the bulbs a nice background of color. Even out of bloom, this Polemonium is handsome, its symmetrical foliage making a formal statement among the large-leaved Hostas and lacy Ferns. It thrives best in afternoon shade, but if you keep the soil moist, it will tolerate dappled sun beautifully. Best in northern and mild climates, it is a fine performer, asking little more than ordinary garden soil with good drainage. Zones 3-7." |
